The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, NFEPWM is a national institution which general objective is: Improvement of the environment and sustainable management of its resources by means of stable, efficient and effective support for projects and initiatives for the environment. It provides financial support for environmental and water managements projects. As an institution of public finance sector, it participates in financing projects from domestic and foreign funds: Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (OPIE), the LIFE + Financial Instrument, the so-called Norwegian Funds – the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism and within bilateral cooperation. The Fund also supports tasks related to geology and mining, monitoring of environment and counteracting risks, nature conservation and forestry, environmental education, health prevention of children, as well as scientific research and expertise.
Since 2008 the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has served as Life National Point of Contact and supports Polish applicants by offering a programme of additional projects’ co-financing which is innovative and unique in Europe. Due to such a solution 64 Life projects are being realised in Poland with their budget of nearly 620 mln PLN and the NFEP&WM’s support of 260 mln PLN.

Project No LIFE13 NAT/PL/000009, entitled “Active protection of water-crowfoots habitats and restoration of wildlife corridor in the River Drava basin in Poland”, with the total budget of PLN 27 594 196.00 is co-financed in 50%, that is in the amount of PLN 13 797 098, from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
