On 17th October 2016 at the office of the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Szczecin, Local Affairs Department in Złocieniec, there was a symbolic handover of the Campsite’s keys which was built by RDEP within the framework of the LIFE project. Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Szczecin, Radosław Grzegorczyk, handed to the Mayor of Złocieniec, Krzysztof Zacharzewski, the keys to the rooms in the toilet building. Due to the investment many buildings have been created, from a paved way for pedestrians and cyclists, through a stage, to “Hubertówka”, a shelter “Brda” and a social building. In total, the area upon the Drawa along Połczyńska Street has changed from a neglected meadow into a well-equipped place for canoeists, but also in a place for big events. It was assumed in the project that thanks to such investments canoeists will be more eager to visit this section and others beyond the Drawa National Park. In this way the most popular, valuable part of the river in DNP will be relieved. Relieving of this section is one of the objectives of the “Active protection of water-crowfoots in the River Drawa basin” project, as highly desirable reduction of damage which may be caused by mass tourism. A separate issue is to equip places for canoeists with necessary infrastructure, such as toilets, but also a place to rest.
The RDEP Directorate with the team wishes all users satisfying visits at Złocieniec campsite.
